ABS-PC Filament

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene polycarbonate

Processing parameters:

Extrusion temperature: 280 °C
Print bed temperature: 90 – 105 °C

PC-ABS is a plastic mix out of polycarbonate (PC) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), available in black. PC-ABS is an enhanced development of the classic plastic ABS. This filament combines the characteristics of two excellent FDM thermoplastics, the high strength and heat resistance of PC, as well the good toughness at low temperatures and the easy processing of ABS.

This plastic has an optimized processing behavior and can then be painted and glued. This plastic is often used in the electronic and automotive industry. It has a good electrical insulation, that’s why this material is well suited for the manufacturing of plugs and switches.

This 3D printing filament is a bit more complex to handle. It requires high printing temperatures and is hygroscopic (capable of binding moisture), that’s why it needs a bit more care when storing.

Solubility / resistance

ABS-PC is resistant to dilute acids, dilute alkalis and oils and can be dissolved in esters and ketones (especially acetone).

A wide range of post-processing methods are available for ABS. The plastic can be welded, glued and coated.
