Metal printing on the EVO-lizer desktop 3D printer

EVO-tech is revolutionizing metal 3D printing! To date, hundreds of thousands of euros have been invested in purchasing a metal 3D printer, making it possible to produce metal parts with the EVO-lizer 3D printer.   In doing so, you use technologies already known from decades of MIM/PIM injection molding. In this process, highly-sensed plastics are sprayed with metal and then sintered.

In the first step, a suitable binder system and a suitable metal powder is selected.

From the feedstock, a filament is produced in the third step.

 

Green part

After printing, you get the so-called green part, which can be treated as a MIM or PIM green compact from this step.

 

Brown part

Brown part

After the final binder you get the so-called brown part. This is now very brittle and consists almost only of metal powder which is held together by very little residual polymer (backbone).

After sintering, a finished component of pure sintered metal is obtained. Any plastic remnants were burned during the sintering process.

In the second step, a feedstock, comparable to a plastic granulate, is produced from the binder and the metal.

In the fourth step, the metal filament is processed like a normal plastic filament in the EVO-lizer 3D printer. Here, it must always be ensured that the interior is heated and hardened nozzles are used.

 

Debinding

Debinding removes most of the binder polymer. There are different debinding methods. Such as thermal debinding, catalytic debinding or solvent debinding.

Sintering

In the final step, the component is now sintered at over 1300 ° C. Depending on the feedstock recipe, the component shrinks by up to 20%.
